“Hallelujah” - July 28, 2015
Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
2 Pet 3:3-10
Make no mistake, the Lord is reliable, and what He says is true. You can bet your life on it. There is little time left before every eye will behold His return. Sure, there are those who will mock that statement, but I pray that you aren’t one of them. For the day that is quickly approaching is one that the Bible calls both great AND terrible. It’s a great day for His saints that are found obedient and faithful to Him even to the point of death. As great as it is, it will also, however, be equally terrible for those who are lawless, wicked, and insistent on fighting against their creator. Scripture says that they will be weeping and gnashing their teeth, crying out for the rocks to fall on them.
Philippians 2:10,11 says, “In that day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” It’s a choice whether we do so in humility, rejoicing to see our bridegroom or whether we are forced to our knees by the might of His power.
The Lord has drawn a line in the sand and He will not allow anyone to straddle it. It is time to make a choice. Which side will you choose? The Lord’s call is the same now as it was through the prophets of old. “If My people, who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins…”
If you refuse His call, you will be rightfully destroyed. Still, the Lord says, “I have set before you life and death… Choose life in order that you may live.”
In considering your decision, reflect on the following questions. Are you saved? Have you truly repented, having completely turned from your sin to follow after Jesus in His ways? Do you embrace Him fully, accepting everything He has to say about the way to live your life? Will you be among those who say to Him, “Lord, Lord look at all these things we did in your name”? His response to them is, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” (Matt 7:22,23)
In reading this, perhaps you’re saying to yourself you’ll revisit these questions at a later time. Or perhaps you busy yourself trying to simply be a good person and this leaves you feeling secure in your salvation. Keep this one thing in mind. No one is good. (Romans 3:10) Every one of us is in dire straits without the saving power of Christ. No good deed can save. And just as we can’t walk East and West simultaneously, we can’t walk the narrow path for salvation while walking the broad road to destruction. We are always moving in one direction or another. The time to choose is now.
*May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!*
